As the finale to Series 2 of Ashes To Ashes is unleashed on BBC1 tonight, the BBC confirmed today that a third and final series would be made. Creators/producers Matt Graham and Ashley Pharoah have indicated that the climax of the third series will finally explain who the character of Gene Hunt really is.
Ashley Pharoah said the series, set in the 80s, will offer "intriguing twists and turns to keep viewers guessing about the final outcome".
Philip Glenister also popped up on BBC Breakfast this morning to promote the final episode of Series 2.
Episode 8 transmits at 9.00pm on BBC1 tonight.
