I have always clung on to the "stones" which I distinctly recall having a green glowing eye. Apparently this was in colour but that version has been lost to history and only B&W remains. I would have been 8 years old when I watched this, maybe a little too scary for such a young mind, maybe that's why it has always, as I am sure for which it was designed, haunted me.Nigel Brockbank (nee Verma)noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3737235139994190228.post-32176571796958172322010-10-13T17:23:32.790+01:002010-10-13T17:23:32.790+01:00Hi! a great reviw, I am also 47 and so was the sa...Hi! a great reviw, I am also 47 and so was the same age as you when I watched this amazing series on TV, with my brother and sister, we were so terrified but loved it at the same time. The stone creatures were so sinister, I have never forgotten it and I am also about to watch it now that I'm a 'grown-up'. It will be intersting to see what my kids make of it too, I wonder if they will find it more frightening because it will be so unlike the slick productions they are used to, or if they will just laugh! <br />Valerie Jane Smith (nee Butler)Valerie Jane Smithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3737235139994190228.post-56671355005539304752010-05-04T21:31:07.697+01:002010-05-04T21:31:07.697+01:00Hello,I have been racking my brains for years to s...Hello,I have been racking my brains for years to solve the conundrum of what this scary childrens programme was called. The last episode was airing on the day we moved house in 1972 but my dad wouldnt let us watch it on the telly at our old house and made us walk to our new one.The anquish that ensued was traumatic as I loved the show .So a big grateful thank you .Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3737235139994190228.post-19771508592648171082009-05-30T01:40:46.980+01:002009-05-30T01:40:46.980+01:00Great review, Frank. Hugely enjoyable series (much better than the later 'Sky' which I've also been watching and will be reviewing over the weekend) and I agree about the 'memory cheats' bit. I was sure I could recall a sequence where the stones are crowding around Marianne's bedroom window in the 'real' world - it's the only vivid memory I have of watching the serial at the time. Of course, there's so such scene! Just shows how our minds can contort and distort half-remembered things from our past. All in all though, a thorughly engaging and enjoyable serial. Not only do they not make them like this any more, I suspect they couldn't if they tried.Paul Mounthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07633402797573408873noreply@blogger.com
