SARAH JANE ADVENTURES - Series 3 trailer

CBBC has unveiled its forthcoming Autumn/Winter season and of interest to us cult telly fans is, of course, the imminent transmission of the new series of the Sarah Jane Adventures. The new series returns on October 15th and will follow a twice weekly transmission pattern, an episode each going out on Thursdays and Fridays.

Here's the 30 second CBBC trailer:

This year, six further two part adventures are lined up: Prisoner Of The Judoon, opens the series and is written by Phil Ford, followed by Joseph Lidster's The Mad Woman In The Attic, Gareth Roberts intriguingly titled The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith, two further Phil Ford adventures, The Eternity Trap, Mona Lisa's Revenge and the series finale, The Gift by Rupert Laight.

Elisabeth Sladen reprises her role as investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith and she's once more joined by Tommy Knight as Luke, Daniel Anthony as Clyde Langer and Anjli Mohindra as Rani Chandra. And K9 will be making an appearance too. Guest actors this year include Donald Sumpter, Nigel Havers, Zienia Merton, Jeff Rawle, Miriam Margolyes and Simon Callow.

Here's the very amusing 'Can You Find The Blathereen? game trailer:

And what can we expect this series? Well, you'll see the return of the Judoon and meet their reptilian enemies The Veil; and the Slitheen's cousins the Blathereen; a return match with the Trickster; a new villain called Erasmus Darkening; a whole adventure featuring David Tennant as the Doctor; a living painting and the inhabitants of a supposedly haunted house and an extraterrestrial girl that can make people play games against their will.

Sneak peek images here from The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith which will feature David Tennant as the Doctor.

  1. It is rather bizarre that the series trailer doesn't feature a gratuitous shot of the Doctor up front somewhere. Plus, are we about to witness yet another story were someone is possessed by an alien?

  2. "Take your spaceship and give me back my mum."

    Wicked!

I don't normally watch SJA, but I'll watch this series because it has David Tennant in it and the trailer makes it look decent.

    Also, Judoon!

It is odd that the Doctor isn't front and centre in that trailer. Let's face it, the viewing figures are going to be very good for the series when he does show up. They should be capitalising on that!

    Hmmm, yes. More possession stories.

Lucy - you should tune in. Both of the previous series have had their ups and downs but they have always given us at least two very entertaining stories per year.
