AVATAR Day - Preview & Forthcoming Trailer

Hopefully you haven't been living under a stone over the last few weeks not to have noticed the huge amount of buzz and excitement around the forthcoming 3D science fiction epic Avatar. Director James Cameron set hearts beating with a special preview at Comic Con last month and now he's going to share it with fans worldwide on Friday 21st August.

16 minutes of Avatar will be previewed in IMAX and regular theatres across the world. If you haven't already seen the press ads or read the details then head over to www.seefilmfirst.com and use the special code 302001 to find out which cinemas near you will be showing the preview. You'll need to register with the site first and it doesn't take a minute. My advice is keep trying even if the screening you're after is full. The two Manchester IMAX showings were full two days ago but this morning I went back into the site and had no problem being allocated a ticket.

Avatar promises to be a visually spectacular film using new 3D filming techniques. The story focuses on a wounded and paralyzed war veteran, Jake Sully, who travels to an alien world, Pandora to take part in the Avatar programme. The programme allows humans to pilot hybrids of the planet's inhabitants, the Na'vi, to enable cultural study of the species. However, Jake has unwittingly been recruited into a colonisation project that's more interested in exploiting the planet's valuable minerals. As Jake slides deeper into going native, he finds himself caught between the military-industrial forces of Earth, and the Na’vi – forcing him to choose sides in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire world.
